Sunday - Krishnar, Kisu Kisu and Kenathanams! :P

This week was a pot pourri. A little bit of this, and a little bit of that.

I ALWAYS wonder why Iyengars have their festivals after a week/month after all other people. Well...nobody really knows. Anyway, since this Saturday was a full day at work, I decided to spend Friday at Supri's place. And Saturday, the day I was getting back, was Gokulashtami at Supri's house. Her paati made yumm 'batchanams' that included thattai, seedai, ravaa laddu etc etc. Aah... It is actually a GOOD thing Iyengars have their 'pandigai' on a separate day!

My office is FILLED with gossip. Ranging from whether one person in the office is gay or not, to the latest scandal involving the house keeper lavutifying metal scraps for 'yedaiku pottu'fying... phew...eet ees a masala movie I say!!

(Talking about I say...has anybody watched Quick Gun Murugun yet? I so wanted to watch it, but haven't as yet)

Today, we had a Triplet meet!!! (For people who don't know, Billi(me), Blabber(Supri) and Bumboo(Deepti) are the triplets. Three crazy people on a busy shopping Sunday in Spencer Plaza. Fun fun!! We were being our usual crazy selves after so so long.

(Did I tell you we got really cool bags for 50 bucks and 60 bucks? And Blab like a nice girl got me the sling bag I was suposed to get :-D)

I also got an anniversary gift for Nandhini and Burfi. Hope they like it. Oh, I really hope they like it. They will, right?

Saturday - A Movie promo

I saw this movie poster in the newspaper. I really really liked it and was telling a friend about it too. And, the next day I saw it on Facebook. You have to see this!

Friday- Talent!

The walk from the Ashok pillar bus stop to my office is an eventful one. I am almost always on the phone during the 10-15 minute walk, but there is one thing that is always striking - the stench. There is a slum establishment on the way, and people exrete on the roads, and human excreta of all shapes and sizes and stench occupies the pavement. There is a similar establishment on my way back home, closer to home actually, that I cross in the bus everyday. Everytime I cross the place, almost half the people in the bus close their noses. Some wonder aloud. "How do these people live amidst this?!" I reply, "You get used to it". My reaction is always awe. I try and peep in to see what they have at home. There is always a TV. You can see women cooking. The interiors of the houses always look clean. And, everybody seems to know everybody else!! Now, these are real human beings with real lives. I think of all the apartments wherein a dead person was found only three days after the death because the stench from the decomposing body became overwhelming. People living among all the stench would have never let that happen.

Anyway, now, this place near my office was very colorful that day- some amman temple carnival(thiruvizhaa). That was when I saw them!! Kolams in all varieties- poo kolams, butterfly kolam, deepam kolams and what not! That was when I understood why they say everybody has some talent in them!
