This week was a pot pourri. A little bit of this, and a little bit of that.
I ALWAYS wonder why Iyengars have their festivals after a week/month after all other people. Well...nobody really knows. Anyway, since this Saturday was a full day at work, I decided to spend Friday at Supri's place. And Saturday, the day I was getting back, was Gokulashtami at Supri's house. Her paati made yumm 'batchanams' that included thattai, seedai, ravaa laddu etc etc. Aah... It is actually a GOOD thing Iyengars have their 'pandigai' on a separate day!
My office is FILLED with gossip. Ranging from whether one person in the office is gay or not, to the latest scandal involving the house keeper lavutifying metal scraps for 'yedaiku pottu'fying... phew...eet ees a masala movie I say!!
(Talking about I say...has anybody watched Quick Gun Murugun yet? I so wanted to watch it, but haven't as yet)
Today, we had a Triplet meet!!! (For people who don't know, Billi(me), Blabber(Supri) and Bumboo(Deepti) are the triplets. Three crazy people on a busy shopping Sunday in Spencer Plaza. Fun fun!! We were being our usual crazy selves after so so long.
(Did I tell you we got really cool bags for 50 bucks and 60 bucks? And Blab like a nice girl got me the sling bag I was suposed to get :-D)
I also got an anniversary gift for Nandhini and Burfi. Hope they like it. Oh, I really hope they like it. They will, right?
This blog is for people who can make sense from the non-sense I write, so if you stumbled across this blog, and it made no sense to you, you only have yourself to blame.

Sunday - Helicopters, CAP(?!) and Corruption
Three things caught my eye in the news this week. One of course being CM YSR Reddy missing and found dead. Tragic story. But now the rat race for the next CM is going to make people forget to mourn for him and move on to watch the
proceedings as usual.Anna University, Coimbatore Vice chancellor got arrested. This created quite a ruffle in office, because it was a bittersweet news for us. But, yeah... when someone at the top of an university is corrupt, it questions the fundamentals of our education system. If the vice chancellor has no morals, what are we going to teach the students?!
YAP and GAP (Yamuna Action Plan and Ganga Action Plan) were total failures despite shedding over 1000 crores. They failed because we modelled it with the Thames system. Now , YET another attempt to clear up the Cooum. (Maybe they're calling it CAP?!) Yet again, modelled on foreign river systems at the cost of over 99 cro
res. Well, let us be optimistic and hope my grandchildren will go boating in Cooum....

Sunday - Regrets and Free Food
I haven't been to paatu class in two weeks. That's my biggest regret of this week. One day, Bhuvana came with me in the bus. We ate paani poori and got off home. One day, I wasted time going to check out that play thing. One day, I was just plain lazy me. The other day, I got home late. Excuses and more excuses!!
Met friends on saturday...And Today, I went to Sai Nivas to listen to Pancha Ratna Keerthanais being sung and on a day when I'm home alone, it was really lucky that they provided lunch there :-) செவிக்கும் உணவு! வயிற்றுக்கும் உணவு!

Sunday- Of Trucks and Taunts and Twilight

I had a great week. On Monday, I met idiot Mru and Vasanth Anna. That triggered a series of fights...but I'm glad we were able to pull it off at the end, with an happily-ever-after(?!) ending. Haran came home, from London, and so did Meenakshi Akka(Anni), and athai and athimber. It was good to have them around, especially Haran, whose vocabulary consists entirely of trains, buses, trucks, lorries and the like. He loves Bhuvana(wow! that woman is really good with kids) and told her all the stories of the adventures of his 3-year-old self. I also got to meet Supri, and it was fun picking up toys for Haran. He especially liked the Blue Engine and Edward, one of the Thomas the engine toys. Saturday(Madras Day!!) was my niece's Priya's and Lawanya's birthday. I got to meet both of them, and did a lot of catching up with my cousin and Lawanya. The best part about the visit to my cousin's house was - Twilight! I've beeeen wanting to get my hands on that book for so long, it was unbelievable when Priya just shoved that book onto my lap...her 12 year old self didn't really understand vampire romance I guess. (Did you know Twilight was actually rejected by 14 agents before it got published?! What's with rejection and popularity?!?! Remember Harry Potter?)
Sundays are the laziest of days, and this sunday was no different. I woke up at 11 30, ate and went back to sleep at 2, woke up at 5, washed my hair, ate dosa, watched dum dum dum...and twilight! Bliss I say...Bliss.
I'm ready for another week :-)

Sunday- Friends and family and some rain...
The last week was a fun one. I met a lot of friends through the college alumni meet! and also otherwise. People who are extremely busy that they can't even talk for more than a minute over phone also found time for me :-) which is good. Last week saw some good food as well... Chaat and sweets and more yummy food. Relatives from as near as Bangalore and as far as London are here. My 3 year old nephew Haran can now strike engaging conversations with everyone...the subject of which is always trains or lorries or cars. The weather is good, and the rain God is showering his blessings on us.
Life's good.
